UNDERSTANDING MANY TECHNICIANS FORGET ABOUT THIS AND AFTER INSTALLING THE TURBINE, IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE START AND FEW KILOMETERS OF THE TURBOCHARGER WILL BE MADE, WHICH WILL EFFECTIVELY MAKE THE CUSTOMER COMPLETED WITH US.

Turbocharger Replacement Procedure for DV6 Engine (1.6 HDi / TDCi)

Drain the old engine oil.

Fill the engine with new oil and engine cleaner. Start the engine and let it idle for 20 minutes.

Remove the vacuum pump. Remove and discard the pump seals.

Remove the turbocharger.

Remove the oil cooler.

Remove the oil filter.

Remove the oil supply line from the engine block to the turbocharger. Discard the wire.

Remove the oil pickup (pump strainer).

Check the removed parts - if they contain metallic contamination:

filter hollow bolt / bolts (securing the oil supply line)

the oil return line from the turbocharger

oil cooler

oil pickup tube (pump strainer)

oil filter

vacuum pump

oil pump

Thoroughly clean the oil cooler with brake cleaner and dry with compressed air.

Install the oil cooler and filter. Use a new gasket.

Thoroughly clean the vacuum pump with brake cleaner, dry with compressed air and install new seals.

Attention!

If it is not possible to completely remove the debris, replace the vacuum pump. This rule also applies to other engine components that cannot be effectively cleaned (oil cooler, intercooler, pump drift, oil pump, etc.).

Install a new oil pickup tube (pump strainer) and the oil pan.

Remove and clean the intercooler.

Check all air hoses for mechanical damage, debris, or airflow restriction. Clean or replace these components as necessary.

Install a functioning turbocharger.

Install a new turbocharger oil return line.

Install a new oil-supply line and the latest filter design * hollow bolt / bolts *.

* We suggest completely removing the strainer from the inside of the hollow bolt.

Reassemble the rest of the parts in the reverse order to removal.

Pour in engine oil.

Measure the oil flow through the installed turbocharger:

install the longer oil return line to the turbocharger, put the other end in the vessel

start the engine and let it idle. After 60 seconds, turn off the engine and measure the amount of oil in the container. It must exceed 0.5L (500ml)

The test should be repeated 2 or 3 times to confirm the results.

Make sure the engine is not running with too little oil.

Install the turbocharger oil return line to the engine.

Carry out a test drive of 30-40 kilometers.

Change the engine oil and oil filter again.

Attention !!!

Oil sludge formation inside the lubrication system can be caused by insufficient sealing of the fuel injectors. The exhaust gas blow-by from the cylinders under the valve cover causes accelerated degradation of the engine oil and the formation of tarry deposits or oil cake on the lubricated surfaces. In addition to flushing the engine lubrication system with a mixture of engine oil with the addition of an engine cleaner, it may also be necessary to mechanically clean the surface under the valve cover and check the tightness of the injector seatings. To do this, you need to:

remove the valve cover, camshaft housing and injectors

thoroughly clean the inside of the head

check and replace hydraulic valve lifters if necessary

check and clean the injectors, replace their outer seals and thoroughly clean the injector seating surfaces.

This problem mainly affects engines in manufactured cars

until December 2010.

Since then, the PSA Group has been using a modified injector seal.
